“My Greek Orthodox faith has always been at the center of my life, starting from home in my youth. Certain moments at Hellenic helped me dive even deeper. Whether it was class, church services, or meaningful conversations with peers, being in the Christ-centered environment of HCHC as a young Christian man was amazing for my development and something I look back on very fondly more than ten years later.”

“In my line of work today, I often find myself referring to material I learned in history with Dr. Ganson, Byzantine Art and Architecture with Dr. Skedros, and the Life of St. Paul with Dr. Beck. These courses gave me a solid foundation that I have continued to build on personally and professionally. I also learned a great deal about iconography and patristic theology from Fr. Maximos Constas, and I can confidently say I wouldn’t be who I am today without the guidance and support of HCHC faculty and staff.”

“I earned my degree in Management and Leadership, the business program of Hellenic College. That was the beginning of a path that led me to further study Byzantine Iconography in Greece under master iconographers. Today, I have my own iconography business, Koulouris Iconography House, with my co-founders Alexandra Koulouris and Nikolas Koulouris (both HCHC alumni). We do wall iconography, veneration icons, and icon restoration, and are currently working on multiple domestic and international projects—some of which came through the personal connections we made during our time at the school. I feel so very blessed to use the talent God gave me and the Christ-centered education I received to now serve the Church in this unique and much-needed capacity. Glory to God for all things.”

Alexis Ambroise

Bachelor of Arts

Alexis's work in social science and university teaching is deeply shaped by her Hellenic College experience:

“My years at Hellenic College gave me a foundation in the Orthodox faith that I carry into my work every day. As a social science researcher and as a university instructor, I try to approach questions with humility and a respect for the mystery of the human person, remembering that data points represent lives created in the image of God. That perspective keeps me grounded and reminds me that research should serve people, not just theories.

In social and human services, the Orthodox emphasis on compassion and community guides how I interact with others. I’ve learned to see service not as charity but as solidarity; walking alongside people with patience and dignity. The values I embraced during my time at Hellenic College continue to shape how I think, how I listen, and how I try to make a difference in the world.”

Her story is a reminder of how a Hellenic College education forms both the mind and the heart, preparing students for work and service.

Presvytera Melissa Maginas

Bachelor of Arts in Theology

“Like many in my generation, my ministry has shifted multiple times in the 11 years since I graduated from Hellenic College. And while my professors prepared me academically for graduate work at Fordham University, they more importantly prepared me for the constant shifting of my role, helping me to know that my identity is not in how I earn my living, but in how I respond to Christ’s call to be His hands and feet in this world. Their mentorship and friendship have continued to guide me the last fifteen years, and I often remember their deep love for us as students.”

“Alongside the professors, Hellenic College provided me with the best community in which I matured into adulthood and a fuller life in the Church. Being on campus with seminarians and their families helped to ground both me and my friends, reminding us that our time there was preparatory. But most of all, the chapel life formed my heart to desire Christ in a way that has yet to leave me. The daily rhythm of services gave a heartbeat to our days and provided us with a deep connection to Christ, reminding us always that whatever work we do in this world, it should be done in cooperation with His will. This is the firm foundation upon which I have found the deepest peace and joy.”

“In my time at Hellenic College, I was nurtured and enriched by a thriving and diverse Orthodox community, and by an education of the highest quality. The professors who teach at Hellenic are qualified beyond measure and have a deep care for their students to match. I am so thankful to have been shaped by their careful hands and to carry the many gifts they have given me (academic, spiritual, and personal) into my future.”

Coming to Hellenic as a transfer student in the Liberal Arts program after taking time off from school to work full time in the mission field was a big step for her. She writes: “I was nervous about being older than the average college student. My fears were quickly assuaged by the warmth, integrity, and diversity of the community.”

Her formation was more than academic. It became foundational to every part of her life: “My experience was not only formational in an academic, spiritual, and vocational manner, but also a deeply personal one. It is there that I met my husband and about a year and a half after we married, our daughter was born.”

Today, as a Presvytera, Faeli carries forward this formation into her family and ministry — a calling that requires a warm and faithful heart. Her story is a beautiful reflection of what Hellenic College hopes to offer all its students: formation of both heart and mind for Christ, His Church, and the world.

Fr. Theofanis Rauch

Bachelor of Arts in Theology

Reflecting on his years at Hellenic College, he says the greatest gift was the deepening of his empathy: “It helped me grow in compassion. My literature classes taught me to walk with people who all have different stories and lives.” Even more life-changing were his teachers. “The most impactful teachers didn’t just lecture,” he recalls. “They saw the beauty and goodness inside of me—goodness I didn’t see in myself—and helped me draw that out. They taught me to recognize God’s presence in myself and in those around me.” This vision now shapes how he serves and teaches in his parish.

“When I look at the community I serve today,” Fr. Theofanis shares, “the impact I’m most grateful for is witnessing how God’s mercy changes lives.” He sees people arrive with pain and leave with peace. “We’re simply trying to cultivate a community where people can encounter Christ and experience His transforming love.”

To current students preparing to make a difference, he offers advice: “Look for Christ in every experience. Humility and gratitude change our whole life and who we are, and it helps us to see that God really is present in all places and all things. When we’re humble and grateful, it’s easier to see Him in everyone and everything—and to rely on Him, because He is the one who truly makes a difference.”

Fr. Theofanis remains a faithful witness to the mission of Hellenic College, grounded in gratitude and directed toward Christ.
